HEY Y’ALL!

First and foremost all praise and glory to GOD that we made 19 Summers! November, 2024 we enter 20 years of putting in WORK! 20 years we are producing a documentary, an orgininal production with an original score, expanding into more cities, and preparing our dancers to audition and truly experience dance as a career. The dancers you see tonight have resumes that can compete with some of the dancers who tour with Beyonce. Chris Brown dancers and choreographers already know Diego’s name. Each generation gets better and better. How are we different? We don’t encourage competion, but collaboration. We challenge our dancers to embody the mantra, “Dance is Life, and Life is Dance”, and apply the life lessons that performance brings. We are proud of the character development in our dancers. Yes, we are confident that we are the strongest team in Colorado…….and we know we have to work hard to keep it there. You are getting 20 routines, yet they had 29 prepared. We could have given you 3 strait hours of dance!

What you are about to witness weeks of dedication from youth who utilize dance as an outlet for many aspects of their lives. This has been the most eventful trials and tribulations camp. We all were in a car accident literally 7 days ago, we had allergic reactions that required hospital stays, we had to realign our energy TOGETHER to sustain our unity, had dancers leave, had dancers return, all while missing the nurturing of home. These dancers learned some real life lessons that will shift who they are. It takes 21 days to break a habit and 28 days to create a new one. We were together for 40! If you know your word, 40 days and 40 nights brings us closer to the light. Tonight you get to be blessed with the gifts these dancers were given.

They deserve our support and INVESTMENT. They deserve you SPONSORING them for Atlanta. They deserve the community affirming their talent and celebrating their commitment to dance. Identify a dancer tonight and invest in their dance tuition ($200/month) or their Summer SOULSctice camp tuition ($6,000). Our communities are the biggest consumers, lets consume and invest in our future and shift the narritives for our youth!

DEM GIRLS are right in your face, on the stage and making a mark. we have created our OWN table, prepared our OWN food, and we welcome you to join us! WE ARE VPAC.

IN PERFORMANCE,

MAMA AUSET MARYAM

PASSING THE TORCH- PREPARING FOR THE INEVITABLE.

Diego Gonzales belongs on the stage not just as a dancer but as a choregrapher, dance coordinator, and creative director. For the original production, Diego will be choreographing the entire production and adding to his already extremely vast resume. Entering his senior year as a dance major at Arizona, we are preparing for the inevitable……the dance world wants him too. VPAC VILLAGE is praying and aiding in manifesting that next summer he will be on tour with one of our favoirte artist, Chris Brown. Get his autograph now. Diego did 90% of the Ensemble choreography this summer. The development in dancers is through his guidance and coaching.

Jyia Ridley has taken programming to an entire different level adding to the training and development of dancers. The endurance and ability to embody Diego’s choregraphy is through the guidance and coaching of Jyia. Her conditioning and training built the stamina and strength you see. Going into her junior year at THE Morgan State University studying pre-law, she is giving access to the dancers on how life is a stage and that even as a lawyer she will be utilizing the art and skills of performance. Jyia did 10% of the Ensemble choreography and 90% of the programming for the summer. Aiding in data collection and maintaining grants, Jyia is mastering the behind the scenes execution of the full VPAC experience.

Jalil Ridley facilitates Healing Circles for our dancers every week. With any youth, their mental health must be healthy to achieve reaching their full potential. Entering his senior year as a double major in Psychology and Busniess Management, Jalil has a uniqe and special touch with the dancers that create a safe space for them to be their full authentic selves. Graduating from THE Grambling State University, Jalil will continue to keep their minds right, as they embark on a new lane of performance with an original production.

We are proud to announce for the first time in VPAC history, we will be adding to the VPAC team, an Assistant Coach. Stay tuned for that announcement!

VPAC Winter SOULstice Camp 2023 Measurements:

Through pre-mid-post interviews, we were able to fully measure growth. Here are our results:

100% average Performing Arts growth

90% of students want to return for Summer Camp

90% of students referred two or more friends

90% of students felt heard

100% of students feel more empowered and rooted in their cultural identity

100% feel loved and safe

While this camp was not an intentional academic camp, as usual, the students still completed a report of a Black dancer and choreographer. This camp our Watoto made it very clear that they need more from VPAC. We are partnering with Athletics & Beyond to include Sunday Ballet. The Atlanta team is being fully developed. Our dancers recognize how dance aids in their mental and emotional well-being and that they need more. As you see we are developing choreographers, leaders, dancers, directors, producers, and all aspects of performance art fields!

Please follow @vpacindependent on all platforms.

PLEASE ASK OUR WATOTO HOW VPAC IMPACTED THEM THIS SUMMER! THEY WOULD LOVE TO SHARE!
